Required first
IT Governance approval is required for any E&G or Auxiliary-funded IT purchase over $10,000 — before it goes to University Purchasing. Complete the VCU IT Investment Proposal (including the Data Classification Survey) at itgovernance.vcu.edu. Purchases of IT products that handle sensitive VCU data may also require a formal risk assessment.
Apple
Purchase Apple products through the Apple punch-out catalog in RealSource.
From the Purchasing Dashboard in RealSource, scroll to the technology vendor showcase and select Apple's punch-out catalog. Build your cart on Apple's site, then select Send Proposal in the top-right to return to RealSource and complete your request.

Dell
VASCUPP contract UVA845196. Use the Dell PunchOut catalog for fastest processing.
Purchase & payment: up to the $10,000 departmental delegation, order by university PO or P-Card (P-Card up to $5,000). Over $10,000 routes to Purchasing.
PunchOut ordering: on the requisition add-items screen, search "dell - punchout", select "Dell for Virginia Commonwealth University," and either configure a system or enter an existing Dell eQuote.
Quote-quantity gotcha. Dell builds orders from the quote, not part numbers. For non-catalog orders, enter the Dell quote number in the Supplier Part Number field and set quantity to 1 — you are ordering the entire quote, not the individual items. To order multiples, ask your rep for quotes built at quantity 1, then set your order quantity. (Ordering quantity 7 against a quote containing 5 systems = 35 systems.)
Do not include the building, college, or department name in the ship-to address — it can trigger a carrier address error and bounce the package back to Dell.

VITA contract VA-070907-SHI, fulfilled by Software House International (SHI).
The VITA Microsoft Education Select Master Agreement covers desktop applications, operating systems, and server applications. Email SHI for a price quote. One set of media covers any number of licenses; loading on multiple computers requires a Select Product Key, which SHI emails with the order confirmation.
All purchase orders must include: contract number VA-070907-SHI, your purchasing contact details, the Microsoft product number and description, quantity, contract unit price, extended line amount, and PO total.
